Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace

October 5, 2007 at 2:07 pm (cheese, comedy, faces which amuse me, nostalgia)

What do you get when you mix the production aesthetics of MacGyver, Quantum Leap, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, and Heat Vision and Jack? This:

Now go forth, watch all six episodes of this magnificent relic of the eighties any which way you can, and thank me later.

    Oh my head hurts.

Isn’t this a spoof of the actual show?

If there is an actual show we’re all doomed!
ONLY DR. RICK DAGLESS M.D.CAN SAVE US NOW!

I think it’s inspired by a mish-mash of television drama and horror movies from the eighties. Stephen King is the most obvious influence.

LOL they chucked the cat out Ha that’s funny…I’m sure we’ll take the time to torture ourselves over the rest of the series at some point in the near future.

That’s nothing. Literally, nothing. Wait till you see the funeral scene of episode one. It’s glorious.

    “Well, that’ll stop him.”

    That was… wow.

Six episodes of the greatest show to ever grace television.

But there is no point at which the ambulance ever blows up, and that makes me sad.

    Wow, I mean really wow.
I was so moved by that series that I decided to right a paper on the history of the horror genre and its place in society but then a hell beast ate it…

I’d like to think that the producers were suggesting that Rick saves a baby from an exploding ambulance on his way to work every day.

    Glad everyone enjoyed it.
